We were honored to be chosen to build the 140 foot tall sign for Potomac Mills that was called the world’s largest flexible face sign.
From Sign Of The Times Magazine:
To begin with, a sign of this tremendous size had to go through a lengthy and involved approval process — both from a zoning and engineering standpoint. Andy Anderson, Moore’s national sales manager, estimates that applying for and being granted the necessary approval — beginning with the variance needed from the county due to size and location — took at least a year.
Although the sign is actually located along I-95 in an off-premise application, the structure was treated as an on-premise identification. A retail outlet that would operate the same hours as the mall stores, and a maintenance building, were required, as well as a pedestrian crossing and parking spaces.
